Frequently asked questions

The questions churches ask us most before trying Una Voz. If you cannot find yours, write to us and we will answer you directly.

Do attendees need to install an app?

No. Each attendee scans a QR code or opens a link, and the translation is heard and read right in their phone’s browser. Anyone who wants to can add it to their home screen so it behaves like an app, but nobody ever has to go through an app store.

How accurate is the AI translation?

Very good for following the thread of the sermon in real time: it recognizes speech, translates and produces natural voice within a few seconds, and it improves with your church’s own glossary and outline (names, terms and Bible quotations in their official wording). Like any AI, it is not perfect word for word — for the main language of an important gathering, some churches prefer to add a human interpreter alongside it (see the next question).

Does it replace a human interpreter?

It does not aim to replace one, but to extend their reach. The AI translates into many languages at once at a low cost, including languages for which you would never have an interpreter available. For the main language, a human interpreter still has more nuance and naturalness, so Una Voz also offers a hybrid mode (Beta): a live human interpreter for one or more languages, with AI covering the rest.

Does it work on each attendee’s phone? What do they need?

Yes — all the heavy lifting of recognition, translation and voice is processed on the Una Voz server, not on the attendee’s phone. Each person only needs their own phone with an internet connection (mobile data or the venue’s wifi) and a modern browser; no extra hardware, no radio headsets and nothing to download.

What if the screen locks or the phone goes to the background?

The audio is designed to keep playing with the screen locked, relying on the phone’s native playback controls, so attendees do not have to hold the phone in their hand for the whole sermon. On Android it is reliable; on iOS it is best-effort: it works well in normal use, but we cannot guarantee it 100% of the time during a long, unattended gathering if the system decides to suspend the audio.

How much does it cost?

There is a permanent free plan to get started, and paid plans with natural voice, more languages and more hours depending on the size of your church — no lock-in and with unlimited listeners always. See the full, up-to-date table on the pricing page.

How many languages does it translate into?

Dozens of languages — more than 50 with natural voice and several more as text subtitles only. The catalog keeps growing with the translation engine, so see the full, always up-to-date list on the languages page.

Is it only for church services, or also for other kinds of events?

The main use case is the Sunday service, but it works just the same for any gathering with one speaker and an audience of different languages: conferences, retreats, weddings, corporate events or one-off talks. You just create a new service from the dashboard whenever you need it.
